Arrest In Daghestan Police Children Murders

A suspect has been arrested in connection with the murder of a local policeman's children in Russia's North Caucasus republic of Daghestan.

Officials with Russia's Investigative Committee say a local 21-year-old man was detained on February 13 and has confessed to the killings.

On February 11, two sons of a policeman in the village of Beledzhi were found stabbed to death in their house.

A jewelry box and about 300,000 rubles ($9,900) were missing.

Russia's volatile North Caucasus region is plagued by joblessness, corruption, and police brutality.

The violence is also fuelled by near-daily shootings and bomb attacks by Islamic insurgents targeting government officials and police.
