A stadium in Russia's North Caucasus region of Daghestan named after Yelena Isinbayeva, a two-time Olympic pole-vault champion for Russia, has been renamed after the athlete said she is "a person of the world." Daghestan's government said on August 21 that the stadium in the regional capital, Makhachkala, would go back to its old name, Trud (Labor). Once an active Kremlin supporter, Isinbayeva, said in July that she will resume her work at the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in September after being cleared by the IOC of having links to Russia's military or its invasion of Ukraine.
