A former prosecutor's aide in Daghestan's western city of Khasavyurt has been sentenced to 11 years in jail.
Russia's North Caucasus Regional Court in Rostov-on-Don on September 26 found Magomed Abdulgalimov guilty of banditry, terrorism, attempted murder, illegal weapons possession, and fraud.
Investigators say that Abdulgalimov organized an illegal armed group in 2009 that attacked a recreation center in the city of Kaspiisk and planned a series of attacks against local officials.
The group had links to the former mayor of the Daghestani capital, Makhachkala, Said Amirov, and to the ex-deputy mayor of Kaspiisk, Yusup Dzhaparov.
In July, Amirov and Dzhaparov were sentenced to 10 and 8 1/2 years in prison, respectively, for planning a terrorist act and illegal weapons possession.
