Disgraced British Fashion Designer Teams Up With Russian Firm

John Galliano

Disgraced British fashion designer John Galliano, little-seen in public since being sacked by Dior in 2011 for making drunken racist comments, has reappeared in Moscow as the creative director of a Russian cosmetics chain.

Galliano appeared for just a few seconds on May 22, in a halo of orange smoke, at the end of a fashion show in one of Moscow’s most exclusive suburbs.

He is now working for the L'Etoile chain, which has some 850 branches in more than 250 Russian towns.

In an interview with ITAR-TASS after the show, Galliano said the job was “an opportunity and a great challenge.”

He said he was confident the partnership “will lead to new and exciting events in the world of beauty for Russian women.”
