District Chief Shot Dead In Eastern Afghanistan

Afghan officials say unknown gunmen shot dead a district chief in Afghanistan's eastern province of Khost today.

Sayed Mohammad, the head of administration of Khost's Baak district, was gunned down while driving to work.

The provincial police chief, Abdul Kahil Hisaqzoy, said Mohammad was killed after being stopped by four men wearing Afghan army uniforms.

No one has claimed responsibility for the murder, but Khost has seen a number of attacks by suspected militants targeting government officials.
