Reports say protesters used the tactic of holding a large number of small-scale protests involving hundreds of people in an effort to elude crackdowns by security forces.
Forces of the military-backed government have shot dead hundreds of people during unrest since Morsi was toppled by the army on July 3.
The security forces have also arrested most of the leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood, the movement that supports Morsi, in a bid to curb rallies demanding that Morsi be reinstated.
