Egyptian Protesters Clash With Police On Arab Spring Anniversary

Demonstrators have gathered at the Tahrir Square in Cairo in the run-up to the anniversary on February 11 of the ouster two years ago of entrenched President Hosni Mubarak.

Egyptian police have clashed with protesters as thousands took to the streets to mark the second anniversary of the ouster of former President Hosni Mubarak.

Police fired water cannon at protesters in Cairo on February 11 when they pelted officers with stones outside the presidential palace.

Hundreds more marched to Tahrir Square, the hub of the 18-day revolt that forced Mubarak from power two years ago.

Protesters called on President Muhammad Morsi to fulfill the goals of the revolution that eventually brought him to power.

The opposition accuses Morsi of failing the revolution and attempting to tighten the grip of his Muslim Brotherhood movement on power and failing to stop police abuses.

In response, the Muslim Brotherhood accuses the opposition of undermining Egypt's first elected president.
