The White House said the resignation of U.S. President Donald Trump's national security adviser came down to an issue of trust. White House press secretary Sean Spicer said on February 14 that "an unsustainable situation" had been created because Michael Flynn had either misled U.S. Vice President Mike Pence and others about his call with Russia's ambassador, or he forgot "critical details" of the conversation.
