France paid homage to the late singer and actor Charles Aznavour – a Frenchman of Armenian descent – on October 5, following his passing earlier this month at the age of 94. French and Armenian leaders -- President Emmanuel Macron and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinian -- lauded him as a cultural giant and one of the greatest songwriters of the 20th century during a ceremony in Paris held in the courtyard of Hôtel des Invalides, the place of burial of some of France's war heroes, most notably Napoleon.
