A French court has handed suspended fines totaling 6,000 euros to British fashion designer John Galliano after finding him guilty of an anti-Semitic rant in a Paris restaurant last year.
The fine fell far short of the maximum sentence in such cases of a 22,000 euro fine and 6-month prison sentence.
Galliano, the former head designer of fashion house Dior, was sacked after the incident, in which he was caught on video hurling anti-Semitic insults at a couple sitting near him.
