American human rights activist Jennifer Gaspar has left Russia and is now in the Czech capital, Prague, with her child.
Gaspar's husband, Ivan Pavlov, said on August 26 that he remains in Russia while his wife and their child are in "safety" in Prague.
Pavlov, who heads the St. Petersburg-based Institute for Information Freedom Development, said he intends to contest a St. Petersburg court's decision last week upholding Gaspar's expulsion from Russia.
Pavlov, a Russian citizen, said he has no intention of leaving Russia for good.
Earlier this month, Russian immigration authorities informed Gaspar that her residence permit was annulled on July 21 because of alleged public calls for changing Russia's constitutional order.
Gaspar had lived in Russia since 2004, working with civil society and nongovernmental organizations.
