IAEA Team In Tehran To Monitor Nuclear Deal

A team of inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has arrived in the Iranian capital, Tehran, to monitor implementation of a groundbreaking deal struck in November between Iran and the international community over Iran's disputed nuclear program.

The inspection team, headed by Massimo Arapo, is expected to meet with Iranian officials and report back to the IAEA on steps taken to implement the agreement.

Under that deal, which is set to take effect on January 20 and last six months, Iran agreed to limit uranium enrichment to 5 percent and restrict other aspects of the program in exchange for a partial lifting of international sanctions.

During the six months the agreement is in effect, Iran and the so-called P5+1 group of nations -- Britain, China, France, Germany, Russia, and the United States -- will continue negotiations.
