The head of the United Nations’ nuclear agency says Iran has yet to carry out all of the nuclear transparency steps it agreed to implement by late August and suggested Tehran’s atomic research may not be confined to civilian purposes.
The International Atomic Agency (IAEA) cannot "conclude that all nuclear material in Iran is in peaceful activities," agency head Yukiya Amano said in Vienna on October 20, though he said Tehran has implemented "most of the practical measures agreed" to under a deal struck last year.
"It is very important that Iran implements, in a timely manner, all practical measures agreed under the Framework for Cooperation," Amano said.
The United States and five other powers are pushing Iran to grant the IAEA inspectors greater access to its atomic research sites.
