The United Nations' nuclear agency chief has said that extensive construction activities at an Iranian military facility may have removed all evidence of alleged nuclear weapons research.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) wants to access the Parchin facility near Tehran based on suspicions that it has been used for testing components of a nuclear weapon.
Speaking after a meeting of the agency's governing board in Vienna on June 3, IAEA Director-General Yukiya Amano said that "it may no longer be possible to find anything even if we are given access."
Earlier in the day, Amano told the IAEA's board of governors that no progress had been made in efforts to clarify concerns about Iran's nuclear program.
He also said that talks with Tehran for some time had been "going around in circles."
