Kerry: World Powers United On Iran Nuke Deal

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry says six world powers are united in attempts to broker a deal with Iran over its nuclear program, despite divisions between Russia and the West over Moscow’s role in Ukraine’s war.

Britain, China, France, Russia, the United States, and Germany are trying to strike a deal with Iran that ensures Tehran is not developing nuclear weapons.

Speaking in London on February 21, where he was meeting with British Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond, Kerry said “there is absolutely no divergence whatsoever in what we believe is necessary for Iran to prove that its nuclear program is going to be peaceful.”

Kerry will fly to Geneva on February 22 for talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.

Iranian Vice President Ali Akbar Salehi was traveling to Geneva on February 21 for talks with U.S. Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz ahead of Kerry’s meeting with Zarif.
