Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has said that there is a “90 percent probability” Tehran and six world powers will adopt a political declaration in their negotiations before an end-of-March deadline.
Araqchi said early on March 29 there was "more than a 50 percent probability" that an agreement in principle would be reached later the same day.
The foreign ministers of France and Germany joined the top U.S. and Iranian diplomats at the nuclear negotiations in Switzerland on March 28 in a bid to reach a framework political agreement.
That accord is meant to pave the way for a final agreement by the end of June whereby Iran halts uranium enrichment in exchange for the lifting of crippling economic sanctions.
U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and EU foreign-policy chief Federica Mogherini were scheduled to meet on the sidelines of the talks in Lausanne, Switzerland, on March 29 to review progress.
Mogherini said on March 28 that the negotiating parties had never been closer to striking a deal than now.
Kerry on March 28 had two meetings with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and the foreign ministers of Germany and France.
