Iran's President Hassan Rohani says the atmosphere in relations between his country and the United States is "quite different" now, which could pave the way for better ties.
Speaking at a press conference on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York on September 27, Rohani said that "our goal is the shared interest between the two nations. Our goal is resolving problems, our goal is step-by-step creating trust between the governments and peoples."
He said that Iran's June elections which brought him to the presidency had created a "new environment" for relations with the West.
He added that Tehran wants the talks with U.N. Security Council's five permanent members and Germany over Iran's nuclear program to yield tangible results in a short period of time.
