The UN nuclear agency says it held "constructive" talks on September 27 with Iran on the Islamic republic's disputed atomic program.
Herman Nackaerts, deputy director-general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), said the two sides will meet again on October 28.
Nackaerts said the discussions had been "very constructive" but gave no details.
Iran's representative, Ambassador Reza Najafi, said the aim was to reach an agreement "as soon as possible."
The IAEA wants to resume an investigation into Tehran's nuclear program, which many in the West suspect is directed at an atomic-bomb capability.
Tehran denies the charge and says its efforts are civilian purposes only.
