Iran Says No New Details On Detained U.S. Reporter

A spokeswoman for Iran's Foreign Ministry says there is still no new information about Jason Rezaian, the "Washington Post" journalist detained last month in Iran.

Spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham told journalists at a news conference that "should new information be provided [by the judiciary], we will announce it."

Rezaian, his wife, Yeganeh Salehi, and two photojournalists were detained on July 22 in Tehran.

Rezaian, 38, holds both American and Iranian citizenship. His wife is an Iranian citizen who has applied for permanent U.S. residency and works as a correspondent for a newspaper based in the United Arab Emirates.

There were no details released about the photojournalists.

Afkham said Iran doesn't recognize dual citizenship and suggested those held would face justice under local law.

Iranian authorities quoted by the IRNA news agency have said Rezaian was "detained for some questions."
