Several Killed In Attack On Iraqi Police Station

At least seven people have been killed in an attack on a police station north of the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.

The attack began in the early morning of December 7 when a suicide bomber drove a car filled with explosives into the protective walls surrounding a police station in the Al-Salman village near Tarmiyah.

Armed militants followed the explosion by attacking the police station.

A police official said at least five police were killed in the incident along with at least three bystanders.

At least 11 others were wounded.

Tarmiyah is about 50 kilometers north of Baghdad.

No one immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.

The assault comes one day after several bombings targeting Shi'a near Baghdad killed 10 people as pilgrims gather to travel to the holy city of Karbala for the religious holiday of Arbaeen.
