Two car bomb blasts in Shi’ite neighborhoods of the Iraqi capital have killed at least 12 people and wounded more than 30.
Officials said the first attack occurred late on October 11 when a suicide bomber rammed his explosive-laden car into a security checkpoint in Baghdad's northern district of Khazimiyah, killing at least five people.
An almost simultaneous car bomb in the nearby district of Shoala killed at least seven people.
Iraq is in its worst crisis since the withdrawal of U.S. troops in 2011 as Sunni militant groups led by the Islamic State group have seized large swaths of the country.
