The Islamic State (IS) extremist group has claimed this week’s deadly suicide attack on Jordanian soldiers.
Citing an unnamed source, the IS-linked news agency Amaq said on June 26 that the attack was carried out by "a fighter of Islamic State."
It gave no further details.
Seven border guards were killed in the June 21 car-bomb attack, which authorities said was launched from inside Syria.
The vehicle exploded near a camp for Syrian refugees located in a desolate area where the borders of Jordan, Syria, and Iraq meet.
Hours after the attack, Jordan declared the northeastern and northern borders closed military zones and King Abdullah vowed to hit back "with an iron fist" against any group that sought to harm the country's security or borders.
