U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry is meeting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for talks expected to focus on Iran's controversial nuclear program.
Speaking at the start of the meeting in Rome on October 23, Kerry said Iran must convince the world that its nuclear program is peaceful, as Tehran insists it is.
Netanyahu said the world should not accept what he called a "partial deal" to curb Iran's nuclear program. Netanyahu said international negotiators must require Tehran to end all uranium enrichment, get rid of any fissile material, and close underground nuclear facilities, which he said are only necessary to build a nuclear bomb.
Kerry and Netanyahu are also expected to discuss the Middle East peace process and the situation in Syria and Egypt in face-to-face talks expected to last several hours.
