Afghan police said a suicide attack at the entrance to a shopping mall and hotel in the capital Kabul killed at least two people.

Interior Ministry spokesman Zemarai Bashary said the attacker blew himself up after he was stopped by security guards at the entrance of the Kabul City Center shopping mall.

Today's attack comes two weeks after a suicide bomber on January 28 attacked a supermarket in Kabul's diplomatic district, killing at least eight people.

That store was situated in the heavily guarded Wazir-Akbar Khan district, an area favored by foreigners and wealthy Afghans.

The Taliban later claimed responsibility for the supermarket blast, saying the attack was against the chief of a U.S.-based security contractor, Xe Services, formerly known as Blackwater.
