Two Belarusian Tourists Found Dead In Russia's Kamchatka

Two Belarusian tourists have been found dead on the Kamchatka Peninsula in Russia's Far East.

Russia's Emergency Situations Ministry said the bodies were found near the dormant Kamen volcano on July 14.

The two tourists went missing on July 9 after they left six other comrades in their camp, saying they planned to climb on the volcano.

The group members called the Emergency Situations Ministry for help after they failed to find their missing friends.

A rescue team from the ministry was brought to the area by helicopter on July 11.

Preliminary investigations indicate the men may have fallen from a glacier.

The Kamen volcano is 4,595 meters high and is part of a unique volcanic belt containing around 160 volcanoes, 29 of them still active.
