Pakistan's largest city Karachi has shut down in mourning for the 45 people who were killed by a car bomb in a Shi'ite neighborhood of the city.
Educational institutions, businesses, and markets closed after the local government announced one day of mourning for the victims of the March 3 blast outside a Shi'ite mosque.
Government officials said 150 more were wounded in the blast.
In a phone call to RFE/RL Radio Mashaal, a self-proclaimed spokesman of extremist Sunni group Jundallah claimed responsibility for the attack.
The claim could not be independently verified.
It was the third mass casualty attack apparently targeting Shi'ites since the beginning of the year.
The first two attacks killed nearly 200 people in the southwestern city of Quetta.
