Kazakh Driver Missing After Accident That Killed High-Ranking Officer

The Almaty regional department for emergencies has said the driver of a vehicle involved in a car crash that killed a deputy commander of the Kazakh Army's ground forces is still missing.

Emergency officials say Colonel Dauren Kenzhebaev was killed when the vehicle he was travelling in turned over and skidded off a highway into an irrigation canal in the southeastern district of Usharal over the weekend.

Officials said another high-ranking officer, Colonel Radiy Shaqshabaev, has survived the accident and is currently in hospital.

Investigators are looking for the driver, Alman Nazan, whose whereabouts remain unknown.
