There were cheers and hugs for Kazakh journalist Amangeldy Batyrbekov after a court acquitted him of libel charges for criticizing an education official on Facebook. A judge overturned a prison sentence of more than two years on January 9 and made a rare apology before Batyrbekov left the court a free man.
