About a dozen Kazakh pensioners have signed an appeal to President Nursultan Nazarbaev in blood, calling for him to "ensure the rule of law." They gathered on August 29 at offices of the ruling party in the city of Almaty, cut themselves with knives and signed the document, which was also stamped with their fingerprints.
