Kazakhstan To Deliver 5,000 Tons Of Uranium To India

Kazakhstan and India have signed a contract for the delivery of 5,000 tons of Kazakh uranium to New Delhi over the next five years.

At a joint news conference with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Astana on July 8, Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbaev said the signing of the contract is “testimony of the systematic development of cooperation in the energy sphere."

Kazakhstan, the world's leading uranium producer, supplied India with 2,100 tons of uranium between 2010 and 2014.

During a speech at a Kazakh university on July 7, Modi hailed "a new era in our relationship with Central Asia."

The Indian prime Minister later on July 8 arrived in Russia to attend a summit of the BRICS emerging economies in the city of Ufa.
