U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry has briefed senior Arab leaders on his efforts to restart peace talks between Israelis and the Palestinians.
In the Jordanian capital Amman on July 17, Kerry updated Arab League officials on a comprehensive Arab-Israeli peace plan proposed by Saudi Arabia and Jordan's King Abdullah.
Kerry also updated the Arab officials on Washington's position on the crisis in Egypt and its efforts to support the Syrian opposition.
Kerry talked about attempts to convene an international conference for establishing a transitional government in Syria.
On July 16 in Amman, Kerry held talks with Jordanian Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh and Palestinian leader Mahmud Abbas.
Israel is not currently on Kerry's itinerary.
It is Kerry's sixth trip to the region in as many months as America's top diplomat.
