Kosovo: Two Children Injured In Grenade Blast

Authorities in Kosovo say two Serbian children have been injured in the apparent explosion of a grenade outside their house in Mitrovica, a town divided between Serbs and ethnic Albanians.

Officials said a boy aged 3 and a girl aged around 10 were being treated at a hospital for shrapnel wounds.

Police said indications were that the blast was caused by a hand grenade.

It was unclear if the incident was ethnically motivated.

It was the third explosion in Mitrovica since February 3.

No one was hurt in the earlier blasts.

Many Serbs in Kosovo’s north, like the Serbian government, reject the 2008 declaration of independence by Kosovo’s ethnic Albanian majority.
