The wife of the Kremlin’s chief spokesman has drawn criticism by performing a Holocaust-themed ice skating performance on television.

Tatyana Navka, who is married to Dmitry Peskov, performed the piece late on November 26 on Ice Age, a show broadcast on Russia's Channel One.

Navka and her skating partner, Andrei Burkovsky, wore the striped uniform of concentration camp victims with yellow Stars of David, which the Nazis forced Jewish people to wear.

Navka posted images of the routine on her Instagram account and said the dance was inspired by the 1997 Italian movie Life Is Beautiful, which is set in a Nazi camp.

"Our children need to...remember that terrible time, which I hope, God willing, they will never know," she wrote.

However, the routine was slammed as "grotesque" and "disgusting" on various social-media platforms.

Six million Jews were killed across Europe by German Nazis and their allies before and during World War II.
