Iraqi Kurdish regional President Masud Barzani said Kurdish forces have seized Sinjar from Islamic State militants who had controlled the Iraqi town for more than a year. About 7,500 Kurdish troops entered the town on November 13. While at times the sound of gunfire could be heard, Kurdish fighters said they encountered little resistance during their advance. (Alhurra)
