Former Kyrgyz President’s Supporters Attack Police With Stones

Supporters of former Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambaev clashed with police on a blocked section of the road that leads to the village of Koi-Tash, where Atambaev's residence is located. Some threw stones at police. Atambaev's supporters broke through the cordon and police fled. The incident took place in Kok-Jar on August 8, hours before Atambaev was taken into custody by special police forces. The clash followed a deadly overnight standoff during which Atambaev resisted detention.
