Suicide Bomber Detonates Car In Beirut

A suicide bomber blew up his car in Beirut late June 23 near a security checkpoint, killing himself and damaging a nearby cafe. The blast occurred in a mainly Shi'ite Muslim district of Lebanon's capital inhabited by supporters of the Shi'ite group Amal, an ally of the militant movement Hizballah. (Reuters)
