Lukashenka In Cuba On Official Visit

Belarusian President Alyaksandr Lukashenka

Belarusian President Alyaksander Lukashenka has arrived in Cuba and is due to hold talks with President Raul Castro on June 25.

The Lukashenka's press service said the two leaders would discuss the further development of bilateral relations and the consolidation of strategic cooperation between Minsk and Havana.

The Interfax news agency quotes a member of the Belarusian delegation as saying Belarus is ready to discuss the opening of a truck repair and modernization center in Cuba.

The report says Cuba is a large market for Belarusian-made farm vehicles and trucks, with thousands of tractors and other Belarusian-manufactured machinery in use on the island.

After Cuba, Lukashenka is scheduled to travel on to Caracas for talks with his ally, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.
