U.S. Senator Ron Johnson has visited Macedonia's capital, Skopje, to support an upcoming referendum over the country's official name change. Johnson heads the U.S. Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs as well as its Subcommittee on European and Regional Security Cooperation. "A very strong turnout is probably the best thing that you can do to support your nation," he said on September 9 in Skopje after arriving from Greece, which made concessions in its long-standing name dispute with Macedonia by signing an agreement on June 17.
