Netherlands Protests 'Despicable' Russian Response To MH17 Verdict

The three men, who were tried in absentia, were convicted of murder by the Dutch court on November 17 for their role in the shooting down of the passenger plane.

The Dutch government said on November 18 that it had summoned the Russian ambassador in the Netherlands over what it said was Moscow's "utterly despicable" response to the verdict in the trial over the 2014 downing of Flight MH17. Russia said on November 17 that the Dutch court's decision to convict two former Russian intelligence agents and a Ukrainian separatist leader for shooting down the Malaysian airliner "neglected impartiality."
