Austrian Truck Found To Be Carrying Critically Ill Migrant Children

Three young children have been found in critical condition due to dehydration after police stopped a truck carrying 26 refugees in Austria.

Austrian news agency APA reported on August 29 that the truck -- carrying refugees from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Syria -- was stopped close to the German border.

The Romanian driver was arrested.

Separately, a Hungarian court remanded in custody four suspects in the deaths of 71 migrants found in an abandoned truck in Austria on August 27.

The suspects include three Bulgarians and an Afghan.

They are suspected to be low-ranking members of one of the human trafficking gangs which preys on many of the migrants from conflict-hit states in the Middle East and Africa coming to Europe.

The victims probably died of suffocation. They are thought to be mainly Syrians.
