Around 1,000 so-called economic migrants protested on the Greek-Macedonian border near the city of Gevgelija after Macedonia started refusing to admit anyone without papers proving they originate from the war-torn regions of Afghanistan, Iraq, or Syria. Standing behind barbed wire, they told RFE/RL's Mirjana Spasovska they had been on the border for days and wanted Macedonia to allow them to go to the EU.
