Militia Leader Reported Killed In Baghdad

A leader of a Sunni militia fighting Al-Qaeda militants has been shot dead in the Iraqi capital, officials there say.

Mullay Nadim al-Juburi, 34, was a member of the national reconciliation commission.

He was shot dead by unknown assassins in a drive-by shooting on January 24.

Postings on an Islamic extremist website celebrated Juburi's death.

Before joining the pro-government group known as Awakening Councils, Juburi fought U.S. troops alongside Al-Qaeda militants.

Meanwhile on January 25, four people -- two police officers, a civilian, and a Sunni militiaman -- were reported killed in three incidents in the northern city of Kirkuk.
