MINSK -- A Belarusian journalist injured in a 2011 bombing of the Minsk metro has died.
Mikalay Ilyushenka, the former deputy chief editor of the "Vecherny Minsk" newspaper, was buried on November 5. He was 64 years old.
Ilyushenka's former supervisor and colleague, Syarhey Svyarkunou, told journalists that Ilyushenka had undergone 12 operations after suffering severe injuries in the April 2011 bombing, which killed 15 people. Ilyushenka last underwent surgery this summer.
Two men, Uladzislau Kavalyou and Dzmitry Kanavalau. both 26, were sentenced to death for perpetrating the attack and were executed in March 2012.
