PACE Chairman Jean-Claude Mignon

The chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) has begun a three-day visit to Moldova.

Jean-Claude Mignon is scheduled to hold talks with Moldovan President Nicolae Timofti, Prime Minister Iurie Leanca, parliament speaker Igor Corman, Deputy Foreign Minister Valeriu Chveri, and Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Eugen Carpov.

Mignon is also expected to hold discussions with the members of the Moldovan delegation to PACE, led by Liliana Palihovic, and lawmakers representing all of Moldova's political parties.

On September 18, Mignon will brief journalists on the results of his meetings.

The following day, he will travel to Moldova's Moscow-supported breakaway region of Transdniester.

Moldova is expected to sign an Association Agreement with the European Union at an Eastern Partnership summit in Vilnius in November.
