Thousands of people took to the streets of the Moldovan capital, Chisinau, as the country's political crisis continues. Three separate protests were held on January 16 after President Nicolae Timofti nominated Technology Minister Pavel Filip as the country's next prime minister. Two of the Chisinau protests were organized by pro-Russian parties, while the third was held by the Dignity and Truth (DA) anticorruption civic group. (RFE/RL’s Moldovan Service)
