Russia's government criticized the U.S. ambassador to Moscow for the second day in a row over his remarks in a speech last week.
Russian presidential aide Vladimir Ushakov said Ambassador Michael McFaul needs to behave more diplomatically and not jeopardize his country's ties with Russia.
According to Russian state television, McFaul told students at a Moscow university that Russia had bribed Kyrgyzstan to close the U.S. military base there.
McFaul's speech was shown live on the Higher School of Economics website but was not available on May 29 from either the university or the embassy's websites.
The Russian Foreign Ministry protested over the comment on May 28.
