Eurozone Unemployment Rises To New Record

Official European Union figures show that the unemployment rate in the eurozone has risen to an all-time record of 10.7 percent.

The Eurostat data agency on March 1 said it estimated that more than 16.9 million men and women were out of work in the 17-nation euro area in January.

That's an increase of 1.4 million people in comparison with January 2011.

The new high comes as the eurozone continues to struggle to overcome its debt crisis and a related slowdown in economic growth.
