Nine Ukrainian Miners Missing After Blast

Nine miners are missing after an underground gas explosion at a coal mine in eastern Ukraine.

Ukraine's State Emergency Service said the blast in the city of Kirovsk in the Donetsk region occurred early on June 12 at a depth of some 300 meters.

The service said there has been no sign of the missing miners by search teams.

The mine is about 90 kilometers from the regional capital, Donetsk, and just 40 kilometers from Slovyansk, where government forces are fighting against pro-Russian separatists.
