Belarusian writer Svetlana Alexievich has won the Nobel Prize in Literature for her nonfiction works documenting the experiences of ordinary people during and after the Soviet era. In Stockholm ahead of the Nobel ceremony, Alexievich spoke about what drives her to write, and about the repressive climate in Belarus, where her receipt of the prize has been barred from state television.
