Obama To Begin European Tour

U.S. President Barack Obama is beginning a four-day trip to Poland, Belgium, and France.

Obama's trip comes as fighting continues in eastern Ukraine between Ukrainian security forces and pro-Russian separatists.

In Warsaw, Obama will also meet with Ukrainian President-elect Petro Poroshenko.

In Belgium, Obama will hold talks with leaders from the other G-7 nations. The group will discuss ways to wean Europe off of Russian energy supplies, as well as discuss possible further sanctions on Russia.

Obama will then travel to France for the 70th anniversary of the D-Day Normandy invasion.

Russian President Vladmir Putin is also scheduled to join U.S. and European leaders for the anniversary.

The White House says Obama will not hold a formal bilateral meeting with Putin, though the two leaders are expected to have some contact.
